The Via Francigena in the Aosta Valley is one of the most spectacular sections of the famous and well-traveled European pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome. Six stages are covered: the first runs from Bourg-Saint-Pierre to the Great St Bernard Pass in Swiss territory, the central ones cross the Aosta Valley, and the final stage enters Piedmont, from Pont-Saint-Martin to Ivrea, in the Canavese area. This route has immense historical value, following the “Summus Poeninus”, the Great St Bernard Pass, and the Via delle Gallie, tracing the footsteps of the ancient Roman road built at the time of the founding of Aosta, Augusta Praetoria Salassorum, in 25 BC. The guidebook includes photographs and technical data for all six stages of the tour, along with contact information for accommodation facilities to help plan the trek efficiently. It also features a 1:25,000 scale hiking map with kilometer grid, printed on eco-friendly, waterproof, and tear-resistant material.
